HOLY CROW! I can't even fathom this. Not only didn't I know that crock pots could burn anything, but that they could burn it into something totally unrecognizable. I was looking at the black things thinking maybe they were trying to smoke fish and forgot to wet the wood. Honestly that is an amazing thing....this is one for the ol' photo album for sure. I love it.

It can be cleaned, all you need is steel wool, muscle and tight purse strings. I also dissolved some nice corrosive dishwasher powder (as much as I would use for a whole load in the dishwasher) in some hot water and left that soaking in it for 24 hours. Just be prepared for your next meal you make in it (preferably something tomoato based to finish off the cleaning process) to have a slight charcoal flavour.

Wow! I did not know that was even possible in a crock pot. (Sorry, Mike!)
But I definitely sympathize.
We left this Sunday morning, and I forgot to turn off the crock pot. . . I worried about it the entire time we were gone.
Four hours later, we were lucky that our soup was still very edible, just "reduced" and the chicken was incredibly tender!

I love this! I hope you had popcorn instead.
