Who?

The Big Game was on.

Super Bowl Forty-...ah...well, you know, the one that was on last night.

Mike and I were nursing head colds and shoveling down chips and dip.

Just trying to be good Americans is all...

Some of the kids were watching the game with us, others coming in and out of the room for periodic updates and snacks.

And then the half time show kicked off.

The Who.

Very cool.

Mike and I were commenting on how great the stage looked, the light show, the music compilation. We were reminiscing about half time shows past, the good, the bad, the shocking. And we were enjoying the Who rocking blast.

4 of 8 wandered into the room.

"What's this?" she asked, looking at the screen for a few seconds. "Old guys singing?"

Old guys singing?

Ouch.

And, uh, yeah, actually.

  2. I didn't watch but the very end so I could see what time my daughter was coming home.

Just the other day, J asked his daddy if he had a baby dinosaur when he was little boy. That just made me smile.

  3. True.
    Old guys singing...
But...you can tell her most of the *young guys singing* these days make covers of these old guys, and that the overtute theme of CSI's was made by these *old guys*
You can tell her they revolutioned music with Tommy, one of the very first rock operas that gave way to most of the cerative people who are now teaching the *new, young guys who wanna sing* or play an instrument.

If I was there, I would carry one telling her I think 85% of the *new, young guys* who make music these days have not even 20% of the talent these *old guys* have (and note I'm not saying *HAD* but have, they still have it, I saw them recently.

As a musicien/performr, it pains me greatly that I have to point out to Sarita (my daughter) all the time, or most of the times she downloads or loves a song, that that is, in fact, something from either The Who, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Kan or...well the list is long, but is a cover.
These *new, young guys singing* rarely remember to make a note as to who authors the song...
    :(

Thanks for popping into my blog, Julie :)
