Oh my. That's happened around here, too. Although the one time my son decided to paint his face green, he was lucky that he picked a face crayon and not a marker to do that! I always get nervous when it's quiet around here.
OMGoodness. Love the pictures. Sorry that happened though. I can't imagine the clean-up both of you had to endure. Nothing good comes when the house is too quiet. I have found lil' D dropping things into the duct work, to trying to cut into a tangerine with a knife. Happy WW! Have a wonderful day and take care. -Kiki
I was in the bathroom recently and saw in giant, permanent marker letters *N*I*Y*A*H* on the back of the door. I confronted my little artist, only to hear.... "I think Nater did it" mmm hmmm.. the 2 year who can't write yet wrote your name on the bathroom door. yep.
Haha...For future reference (not that I have E.V.E.R had that experience) Sharpie comes off with rubbing alcohol, especially from doors. Red ones tend to leave a pink reminder and if you have stucco walls, well that's another story. You can also use magic eraser to get it off of the wall. Children's skin??? well a good soak in the bath until they are pruney will get most of it off. Welcome to the club! (Oh wait...I said I have never expeirenced that, didn't I.)
What IS it about children, markers, and an expanse of fresh, clean skin?! :) And yes, the deafening silence is always telling. I once called out to the silence and The Manimal responded "I not drawing on nuffing Mommy!"
Oh no! Although I'm thinking it must be in the air somehow. My EIGHT-YEAR-OLD decorated his legs with a red sharpie yesterday. He said he wanted to look like he had the chicken pox. Boredom is a dangerous thing.
Quiet times are never good! I remember when Bekah was 2 or 3 and I walked into the bathroom after a brief period of quiet to find red nail polish all over the floor, door, cabinets and child. Same child, same week, the little plastic toilet paper roll holder had been flushed down the toilet requiring full removal of said toilet. If a house of chaos is quiet....LOOK OUT!!! :)
Oh my goodness! Bless her heart... and YOURS for the patience to try to get it off!!! Magic Eraser, anyone? Not on her skin, of course, but maybe on the backpack??
There is not an ocean wide enough to separate a two year old and a sharpie. They can find them even if you can't. Love the pictures. It is nice to see someone else is dealing with the same problems I have.
That looks strangely familiar. My oldest got sharpies (a set of 24 colors, no less) for Christmas a few years ago, and little brother found them. He decorated the walls and the carpet, the pillow cases, and the blankets. Joy.
Everyone thinks that silence is golden with kids - little do they know.
Although I'd actually prefer this scenario to the one my youngest presented me a couple of years ago - she decided to give her American Girl doll tattoos on both arms and legs with a Sharpie. And since I can't afford a hospital stay for the doll to get repaired, she is permanently inked.
Kids and markers... LOL My son and his cousin went around with a sharpie a couple years ago putting prices on things (including my furniture)while they played store. Actually the rocking horse in my wordfull Wednesday today has a mark on his nose from that event.
My kids will actually sneak the Sharpie to their bedroom because they KNOW they're not supposed to use it! Forget the fact that they have about 50 washable markers! I finally had to lock all markers in a small lock box.

I was afraid at first that you were going to show sharpie marks all over the carpet. We've had that. And the wall. At least it makes for some good pics, eh?! ;)
My youngest son updated my parents' brand new countertops with a sharpie when we first got here. Thank you Jesus and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, it came off. :)
Oh my! At least I did not notice any on the carpet! I suppose it is a good idea to test the idea of tatoos before making them permanent--forever permanent, I mean.
As soon as I saw your title, I knew what was coming. I'm just glad it wasn't on the carpet.
The first time I came home with a henna, Ilsa took a marker and drew one on herself too :) And she was TWICE 7's age. Of course it was more artistic... ;)
NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not a sharpie. Anything but a sharpie. Thank goodness she confined her art work to her nightgown and legs. I keep Sharpies up VERY, very high. :)
A timely reminder to keep permanent markers and other such items away. Preferably in someone else's house. My daughter isn't old enough to contemplate such chaos, but we are frequently visited by her three-year-old cousin. We know enough to hide the scissors after she decided to try making paper snowflakes on her parent's couch (newly recovered at great expense too, isn't that always the one toddlers pick to deface?) but hadn't really thought about markers...
Oh!! I am familiar with that method of fun!! at least it was her legs... my kids did each other's faces... my third and fourth. Goodness, that was an interesting "art" moment. :-)
Everytime the house is quiet during daylight hours, You know someone is up to something, right "Mom"? :)
Hubby used to believe if they kids were quiet they were being good. Not anymore. Lets just say thay Duplo Blocks little boys giggling and the sound of a toilet flushing are not good combinations.
