This is me. Yesterday. All day.
Eating up road. Clicking away at the odometer. Haulin'. Truckin'.Vanin'...to be most correct.
And this would be a van full of excited children.
Can't you just see the joy on their little faces? Don't you see the appreciation they have for our national interstate highway system? Isn't it amazing how much they are enjoying the open road, the wide vistas, the cultural experiences?
(Now don't worry...2 of 8 was taking the above shots...I wasn't steering, setting the self-timer, taking photographs and trying to stay in my lane...)
After many hours and potty breaks and unhealthy food, we arrived back safely in our driveway.
And the cargo flood gates open...
I call this next shot Van Vomit.I'm poetic that way.
But you already knew that.
And here's the money shot; Daddy arrives in from the office to welcome the crew after not seeing those babies for a week...
Awwwww......

You are one brave Mama! My Honey and I do and 11.5 hour drive to NC to visit our kids and we think that road trip requires stamina. I will never complain about it again!
ReplyDeleteFunny! I particularly like the way the kids are placed on their respective sides of the car! I have to do that to stop disagreements between my two becoming physical on long journeys!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I have no idea how I'm going to manage keeping physical space between three!
I was thinking "wow that is a lot of stuff in the trunk." Glad you made it back safely!
ReplyDeleteI'm noticing that 2/3 of the "van vomit" is necessitated by having two-year-old twins! Pack n play, stroller, playard, seats .. . Without the twins, you guys would be travelling light! :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a 2yo and (just-turned) 1yo, and our recent week in Florida and a little trip up to the Poconos for Memorial Day looked something like this, with just 2 kids! LOL!
It's sooo worth it though, isn't it?!
I'm glad 2 of 8 likes to take pictures too. :-)
I love those excited looks!
ReplyDeleteVan Vomit-- Love It! :)
My van must have some gastro intestinal problems too, because we suffer from van vomit on a daily basis. Let me know if you find a cure! :)
It bothers me that no matter how carefully I pack, we always pull into our home parking lot looking like the Beverly Hillbillies.
ReplyDeleteWe only have 3 and I feel like our van looks like that after a trip! You have beautiful children, even when they're unexcited!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Look at their excitement! HA! Our van has the vomits also...
ReplyDeleteBtw-you look GREAT after traveling so much...I usually look like...um, puke! :-)
Too funny with the excitement! And I think that was an excellent pack job.
ReplyDeletetoo precious the hugs for daddy :)
Glad you made it home safely. Lovin' the kisses from daddy picture! Too precious!
ReplyDeleteWow! You have a large and beautiful family, I'll be hanging around your blog for a while! :o)
ReplyDeletePRECIOUS last pic!! Good luck with all the van throw up...I hate unpacking. UGH!
ReplyDeleteI see you travel light, like me. I'm fond of saying we don't travel, we descend and conquer. But hey, what is a mom if not prepared? :) It is very weird to me that my daughter has never known a car that doesn't play movies. Remind me to teach her the alphabet game when she's old enough to read, lol.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Carolynn
My fave pic is the last one...the joy on your hubby's face is priceless.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love those big 'ol vans and how they can fit so much when you remove the back bench?! I love it! Van vomit! Yes, all too familiar with that term! : )
ReplyDeleteWow. You are brave. Your kids looked ecstatic. :) So glad you weren't taking the pictures, too.
ReplyDeleteI love van vomit. You have impeccable taste in kid stuff. I recognize much of it as identical to my own private collection. Kids are cute too.:)
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't figured it out, I just found your blog and am engrossed. Your kids are all so gorgeous. Yet I still have no clue how in the world you hold it together. I don't, and I have ONE. You are my new hero.
