Please Re-Lease Me...

I have a happy place.

….In my head.

You should see it.

The walls are painted a soft buttery yellow. There are light wood cabinets with generous counter tops. Several rolls of butcher paper are anchored conveniently adjacent to a low work table stocked with crayons, markers and other art supplies. There are framed pieces of my children’s artwork cleverly displayed. In the center of the room is a large square table with bright rolling chairs pulled up to individual work stations. My children’s well-groomed heads are bent over their lessons, stacks of learning materials well-organized and within reach. And over in that corner, keep reading at Heart of the Matter...

  1. I used to have that same book by the Maxwells. That very statement about having 24 hours in our day made a huge impact on me. I still struggle with how to use those 24 hours most efficiently, and I don't homeschool anymore. Where do I need to cut and add to make my day more proffitable? I just need to reevaluate.

  2. well. It's about what you teach and what is learned and not the surroundings. That's got to be a comfort. Sometimes I wonder if kids in 3rd world countries are getting a better education than my children because despite, maybe in spite of their surroundings, they appreciate what they are learning. Our kids are pretty spoiled with education. I have to admit, I'd be fairly bummed about the perfect house 220 miles away. But part of happiness in life is not being too attached to our surroundings. A blessing in disguise. :)

  3. Great post. And though I don't home school (but actually could have a fabulous set up in my house), there are many areas of my life that need organizing. I like the quote about the hours in the day. I can relate that to my sanity level, too. Sometimes it's hard to get rid of good things simply because I can't do it all. Of course I could do more without this blogging habit ...

  4. Love it. I harbor those fantasies as well. I am getting ready to dive back into the world of homeschooling this fall and am desperate for some more space. The time and space management ideas are gold. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

  5. Great article! I need to clean out my home office and finally, finally throw away things I've printed off the computer but never ended up using them at school. It's wasting space!
