A Fabulous Outlaw Giveaway...

jennifer henson1She's one of my favorite outlaws.
You know, family outlaws.

Those people that you are related to kinda, sorta. Because people they are blood-related to are married to people you are blood-related to.

And so then you're sorta kinda related.

Did you follow all that?

So, where was I before I started taking you through the winding bends and turns of a big extended Southern family reunion?

Oh, yeah, Jennifer.

Jennifer Henson is a Director with Creative Memories, the scrapbooking company that is the Grande Dame of them all. Jennifer has been with the company for over a decade now and I have loved following her career and creative ideas. She has the most gorgeous personal family albums you've ever seen and has consistently run amazing workshops and scrap nights for her clients.

And it's pretty nice to be sorta kinda related to such a great lady.

Because guess what she sent me last week?

Creative Memories' latest, greatest digital software StoryBook Creator.

Oh, honey.

Talk about some photographic fun.

With StoryBook Creator, you can build scrapbook pages, books and layouts, all within a template that allows you to edit your photos directly within the layout. There are even such advanced editing tools as curves, saturation and opacity. I can take along ye ol' laptop to the soccer field sans internet connection and scrap away. When I'm ready to order prints of my pages, I can log in to the Creative Memories website or simply grab the USB cord to my printer.

Now knowing that I'm a bit photo obsessive and could dink around for hours over the tiniest layout details, I decided to challenge myself a bit and lickity-quick see how fast I could lay out three pages with some of my latest MiMi and PaPa photos. I decided to work within a pre-designed book layout with black backgrounds and geometric photo frames. The software loads very quickly and I placed around 25 photos in my cache from my desktop. I then started building my first page with a series of pictures of MiMi and 7 of 8.

SB MiMi

I was able to lighten the photos while directly on the page and play with the contrast to see how it looked on the black background. I then added some more pictures, playing with some creative edges.

sb mimi2

And we're talking maybe five minutes. As in, I could do a StoryBook Creator page and then fold a load of laundry, all in the fifteen minutes before leaving for the soccer carpool. Love it.

Of course I had to play with a few PaPa pictures. I quickly played with bright colors on the photos and then thought about going to sepia, again, all within just a few minutes.

sb papa1

There are plenty of embellishments and papers to play with, along with the option to build pages from scratch or use a Creative Memory design. Fun. Major fun.

Big Outlaw fun.

And guess what Jennifer-one-of-my-favorite-outlaw-relatives is gonna do? She's going to give one of you lucky Octamom readers your very own copy of the StoryBook Creator software. So let's get this giveaway party started! Just head on over to Jennifer's website, check out her story and then head back here to tell me why you need this software. Twitter about the giveaway and get another entry, post about it and get another--just be sure and let me know you've done so. You have until March 12, at 11:59 pm, and I'll announce the lucky winner next Friday! And another cool little feature; Jennifer offers free online classes. While you're on her site, just go to the Help Zone on the right and then the Digital button on the left. There you'll get all kinds of fun info on how to play with all the goodies on the software.

Best of luck!

  1. I've seen the results of that software - a friend of mine (who used to sell CM) has it. It is utterly amazing. I want it. I need it. I have stacks of photos (digitally speaking), thousands of them, waiting to be put into book form. My poor children haven't seen their own pictures in 2 years (I blame blogging).

  2. Scrapblog introduced me to the world of digital scrapbooking and this sounds freaking amazing. I must have it! ;)

  3. Yea! I love CM!!!! :-) I made a basic digi scrapbook of our wedding 2 Christmas' back and hubby was totally thrilled! It is just so easy to click and drag etc...I probably lean a little more on the side of "old fashioned" scrapbooking...but who has time for that anyway! :P HAHA! They have so many neat options in their software it is awesome! Would love to 'see' your finished product when you are done! :)

  4. Sign me up! My oldest is turning 7 and I have all of 5 pages completed for her scrapbook. My 4 year old and 10 month old don't have any pages started for them. I'm hopelessly behind!

  5. I love creative memories, but I have the hardest time actually taking out paper, scissors, special cutting tools, stickers, etc. I would love a digital version so I can get back on track with my scrapbooks. This would be perfect.

  6. I need this because I am scissor and glue challenged. Without digital software I am afraid my child's memories will remain in a box. That could be slightly melodramatic. I love the idea of scrapbooking and come up with great layout ideas in my head, but I can't translate them using traditional scrapbooking. Great giveaway!

  7. Unfortunately, according to the website, it's only for PC. That leaves this little Mac gal outta luck. But if I would sit and take a little more time, I should be able to do this with iPhoto. And Apple will print the book for me.

  8. Ooooh. I love this software already! Hubby is the Photoshop guy, I can become the Storybook Creator girl! Also, my kids could learn to digitally scrapbook with me, it would be so much fun. I could even make templates for photos and greeting cards....sigh. Thanks for the giveaway!

  9. First - I love the new looks around here! So polished and professional:)
And second, with four kids, why wouldn't I need this? I am so far behind doing anything with photos. I need help!

  11. OK, this looks like too much fun!!! I just can't seem to get into the scrapbook mode, but going digital I can do! This looks like so much fun without the sticky hands and messy kitchen table.

  12. I'd love to win this; it would help me overcome my, um, fear of scrapbooking. I've managed to stockpile a number of albums and paper and stickers and ribbons and photos and scissors and . . . but *something* is holding me back. I think going digital might be the answer for me--I love designing brochures, flyers, invitations, etc., in Publisher. I can definitely see myself sitting down at the computer for scrapbooking instead of at the dining room table. I'll definitely go back to Jennifer's site for tips!

  15. Those look like good layout options. I use a program that I love and they have a gazillion layout options but none like those. I've been wishing that they would for a while now. You will have SOOO much fun!

  16. I need this because I am SERIOUSLY scrapbbooking challenged. I just can't/don't/wont do it. But THIS! This is COULD do. I would totally love this.

    Thanks for the chance!!

  17. Oh I soooo need this program! I have an account with Kodak but not too happy with it. I have yet to complete number 6 of 7's baby album and he is getting mad! He wants his book! So...maybe this will help me! Thanks!

  18. Why do I need it? Because if it's not on the computer, I can't/won't do it. I keep purchase scraping stuff but never actually put anything together. If it's on the computer though I will b/c I'm always on the computer anyway.

    So please pick me.

  21. A free class that is wonderful. I have a computer over loaded with pictures from holiday and birthdays. With 4 children and a picture crazed habit I need something to organize and create art with my photos.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Awesome! Why do I need this software? Because I spend so much time on the computer that I don't have time to scrapbook. See? Now I could do both. :)

I'm going to go twitter about it right.now. Thank you!

  23. I'm 42, with 4 kids, 24 to 6. I also have 2 grandkids and a daughter in law. Busy doesn't even begin to describe my life. :-) Also, photo opportunities and scrapbooking necessities abound everywhere. I definitely need this software just to keep up!

  24. I have a 3 year old, a 1 year old, and am pregnant with #3. Lordy, do I need this software!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I need this software because other than my blog, I don't do anything with my pictures. I have the creativity, but not the time. If it really is as simple as you showed, then I NEED it.
In addition, I am suffering through the third round of the stomach bug this winter (the kids, not me) and I could really use a pick me up in this vomit cleaning, laundry doing, disinfecting like a mad woman, week.

  26. I have just discovered the world of digital scrapbooking and I love it. I need some cool software that will let me print my own pages!

  27. I've always felt it would take an act of congress to get me to finish the two older boys scrap books and start on the, Gasp, Five younger boys. If I write my congressman do I get an extra entry.

  28. I've been scrapbooking for about 10 years; however, I've never made a book. I've seen them and they are great to have and share. I would love to win this. Thanks to you and Jennifer for providing this opportunity.

  29. i bought all kinds of supplies while i was pregnant. baby girl is turning two and i have not one page done. i need help! something easier!

  30. I *almost* bought the software right after Christmas. I was THIS close to it. I hadn't a chance to play with it or see it so I didn't buy it. I see now I missed out big time. I have had all the intentions of being a good mom and scrapbooking my kids life. I have boxes of it in the closet. Time and my perfectionism have left me with a few pages done. He's 3 1/2 and 98% of the pics are in my computer. With the software..I could whip out a few pages a day and get all caught up. Hubby would be shocked if he came home one day to an album of honeymoon pics. It was in 2000.

As a side note, I LOVE your blog. I've been following for awhile now and your posts are always a delight to read. You're family is quite inspiring...and so dang adorable!

  31. I haven't taken pictures in years. My oldest daughter takes them for me. If I had the time, I could sort them and put them in all the empty albums hubby bought, thinking that they would magically put themselves away. On the pc, I could work on them or have my 19 yr old.

  32. I have been wanting this product ever since it came out but I have yet to find an actual human being that has used it and could give me their layman's terms opinion of it before i bought it.

i have 2 boys under 2 and want to have at least 2 more kids. with 2 under 2, i find it really challenging to have time to scrap, edit or even order pictures. i've been wanting to digitally scrap but i just haven't taken time to research out a program to do it with.

i need to figure out how to keep on scrapping and go with it before i get pregnant again. i know i would be really motivated to do it if i had the right tools.

money is super tight for us b/c my husband is a christian school teacher and we sacrifice many many things for me to stay at home with the boys.

i've done their baby albums for them and im just sooo overwhelmed at the amount of photos that i have and not the right tools. so i need this tool!

TheRe! how's that?! I NEED THIS!!

thanks for posting such a cool give away! pick me!

  33. Welcome to the wonderful world of digital scrapping! Come on in, the water's great!

I've been digi scrapping for five years now (I just posted some layouts on my blog today, as a matter of fact.) I use Photoshop - I've never tried CM's software, but if it's the same quality of their other scrapbooking tools, it's got to be pretty darn good!

(psssst: I'm having a giveaway too! Great minds think alike.)

  34. I love the lure of all the fancy papers and punches in the scrapbooking store, but alas, I have zero time to actually sit down and do cut and paste. But Digi scrapbooking?? Hook me up! I would LOVE to give this a try!

  35. Oh what an amazing giveaway, I would love, love, love that software. I have been meaning to do something with all of our digital photo's, but my old software was just too old for out new laptop, and I'll admit I just don't have the space for all the scrapbooking fun. This software would be perfect, I can do all the stuff I'd love to do, without having to get rid of all my quilting and sewing supplies that take up so much room.

  37. I just love working with photos digitally. I'm thrilled to see that the software is Mac compatible. I've always heard of Creative Memories - but never tried the products. I would be thrilled if I happened to win this giveaway!

  38. What a great giveaway!!

I just recently discovered digital scrapbooking and have found what a time saver it could be.

Why I would like to win? Like I said it would be nice to save time. I have two girls...I haven't even finished my 12 yo's baby scrapbook :-( and we take in foster children. It would be so nice to have the time to finish the projects that need to be done and also sit down and put together some pages for each foster child before they leave!

    thanks!

  39. I gotta have it! Having recently stumbled upon some of my oldest digital pictures, I realized how quickly the time has flown. My number 7 is now the age that my number 5 was in those pics. I am a notorious procrastinator but love working (playing) on the computer. This would be a great way to document these precious childhood years before I lose my mind and forget what we were doing in all those pictures!

  40. Oh, I have about 1000+ pictures stuck on my computer, maybe more I'm ashamed to admit. But now here I am ~ moved across the country by my husband's company with no friends yet and time on my hands! Plenty of time to learn something new AND constructive.

Please enter me in the drawing!
