On the first day of Christmas
My true love hauled from the attic for me
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree
On the second day of Christmas
My true love climbed up for me
A big ladder out of love
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree
On the third day of Christmas
My true love said to me,
"Now I've bruised my shin"
A big ladder out of love
and
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree

On the fourth day of Christmas
My true love entoned to me,
"A tree this big is absurd"
"Now I've bruised my shin"
A big ladder out of love
and
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree

On the fifth day of Christmas
My true love spoke to me,
"No more jewelry"
"A tree this big is absurd"
"Now I've bruised my shin"
A big ladder out of love
and
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree

On the sixth day of Christmas
My true love questioned me
"How much for this are we paying?"
"No more jewelry"
"A tree this big is absurd"
"Now I've bruised my shin"
"Now I've bruised my shin"
A big ladder out of love
and
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree
On the seventh day of Christmas
My true love saw for me
Seven ornaments crashing
"How much for this are we paying?"
"No more jewelry"
"A tree this big is absurd"
"Now I've bruised my shin"
A big ladder out of love
and
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree
On the eighth day of Christmas
My true love left for me
Eight Rubbermaids a'waiting
Seven ornaments crashing
"How much for this are we paying?"
"No more jewelry"
"A tree this big is absurd"
"Now I've bruised my shin"
A big ladder out of love
and
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree
On the ninth day of Christmas
The babies needed a bath
And I ran out of pictures
Of our decorating rigors
And the laundry was a pilin'
As I sat a bloggin'
And the tree is still undone
But we had a lot of fun
And now my song is done....
And
The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree!!!!
(please add imaginary 4-part harmony for full effect)

What a great start to my day...a good belly laugh!
ReplyDeleteSo was it "I dont care if you've got a whopping great cast on your leg, you're the only one that isn't afraid of hights so get up there and decorate!"????
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one that has a "bigger than average" tree. The kids look like they are having a ball!
So funny and creative. The picture are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHilarious! Thanks for the laugh and the pics are great!
ReplyDeleteThat was great you are such a good story teller.Where do you come up with this stuff?
ReplyDeleteI finally had tall ceilings one year...talked my hubby into buyint the ridiculously big tree and then we moved yet again...haven't had tall ceilings since....so it has been boxed up for 5 years!!!! So sad. I was in mourning...so I refused to buy a nice replacement..I am holding onto hope...so we will put up the $16.99 Big Lots tree yet again! :) We had our fun last night..I'll blog about it later! :)
ReplyDeleteYou just put another perspective on "christmas carol"! Too funny. I love the photos. Your kids are such great sports!
ReplyDeleteThis is the only version of this song I have ever liked!
ReplyDeletePeople are so good about putting up their trees! I'm lucky if I get it up the weekend before Christmas. :(
ReplyDeleteThis year we bought new furniture for the living room, and our downstairs living room is now a studio... I have no idea where our tree is going to be put up!
A big family needs a big tree.
ReplyDeleteI do covet your pre-lit tree, though. I'm putting off putting ours up.
love it! the pictures are stunning, as always, and your kids are so cute having so much fun!
ReplyDeleteTruly loved it!!! So funny. My husband always gets hurt draggin' out my junk, too! LOL
ReplyDeleteLoved the pics too... Bless her heart, that is ONE big cast!!!
Wow, that IS a big tree! It looks like a lot of fun putting it up though -- great pics! (I hope WalMart gets their trees in this weekend -- Christmas is coming FAST.)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful tree. I'm sorry for the bruise on the shin. I liked the cast picture too. It looks like fun festivities at your house!
ReplyDeleteOh prelit tree, oh prelit tree how I want one so...
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful time!
That was cute. Now, I'll have the tune stuck in my head :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome! That is great. Fab pics and lyrics.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I loved the pics. I wish our house was big enough to have such a large tree. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis was the best Christmas song I've heard in a long time. The 4 part harmony was great. If you listen to my holiday signing on my today's post I think you'll want me in on the action.
ReplyDeleteOh, and maybe your tree and my tree (yesterday's post) should get together and morph into a "regular" sized tree. ;)
That is a HUGE tree!
ReplyDeleteAnd aren't you the lyrical genius.
Loved the pics.
You never fail to make my morning. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your tree. With your big family, you have to have a big tree, right?
Great job! I could hear it in my head.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite the tree! It is beautiful. And I love all the festive shots. Everyone looks so happy!
Beautiful steroid enhanced tree!!! Can't wait to hear and see 10 to 12 :)
ReplyDeletethat is hillarious! did you write that?
ReplyDeletelove it!

LOL! That is a great song!! Love the pictures!! You are amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat, now I've got the twelve days of Octamom, stuck in my head @@.
ReplyDeleteLove the ninth day.
Thanks for the smile.
You crack me up!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your tree!!! How is 4 of 8's foot?
ReplyDeleteThat is one awesome tree! Our house is still mommicked up with Christmas totes and paraphenelia galore. It seems that every year the totes mysteriously multiplied while they were in storage....Hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteGreat song lyrics, too!
Oh Octamom can I come over to your place for Christmas please.
ReplyDeleteI sang the song all the way through this post, you crack me up lady, with those lyrics and photos.
Bless your sweet cotton socks - (English slang) Bless your cotton-picking heart - (USA slang)
Peggy
Great pictures! Did you get the e-mail I sent you? ♥ Hugs!
ReplyDeleteTee hee.......you are a clever clever woman. :)
ReplyDeleteOk the bead bodied barbie was kinda scary in the 'was that left over from a barbie massacre?-and we decided to reincarnate her' kind of way!
ReplyDeleteLove the tree-you know you are in the 'bigger is better' state-glad to see you embrace it all!
Love you!!
This one made me laugh which is good since the post below made me cry!
ReplyDeleteYou slay me with talent, humor and grace.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Whitney
Duly noted. Harmony added.
ReplyDeleteI love a song about 'roids and faux conifers.
who are all the freckles from??
ReplyDeleteyou crack me up...that barbie scares me a little bit....
ReplyDeletelove the smily face on the bottom of the lime green cast... and I love love love your Christmas background and title!
liz
love it! Beautiful tree, steroids and all lol
ReplyDeleteOH MY! That is one HUGE tree!
ReplyDeleteLove the song. Love the pictures!
Beautiful pictures of your kids decorating the tree!
ReplyDeleteAwww, your tree looks like ours! Very sentimental. The only "theme" on our tree is "handmade by kids". And possibly "nothing matches".
ReplyDeleteBut we love it.
Also? I am SO glad to find someone else who stopped decorating their tree halfway thru. I still have that huge ladder in my living room. Thanks God for the weekend!
We have a steroid-enhanced, fairly big, pre-lit Christmas tree as well...
ReplyDeleteThe kids decorated it, and I haven't even touched it since. I used to move the ornaments around a bit after the kids were finished placing them all in one spot. I'm recovering from my anti-clumping tendencies at the same time that our children are getting taller and more adept at tree decorating. It's so freeing.
You're a wonderful wordmeister. Love the new lyrics!
HAHA! :-) Thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDeleteSomeone pulled the labels off the branches or they fell off. Either way, is was a challenge to assemble our fake tree. Especailly since someone threw out the box last winter. I had a list on the outside of the box of how many of each color there were and where they went on the tree.
ReplyDeleteOh now that's funny! I love how you put whimsical charm into old songs, lol!
ReplyDeleteOh, Octamom, tears are running down my cheeks... not because of your fun tree or the images of your beautiful family... but because of that ornament of the blond, beaded doll... my grandmother has been gone for 8 years now. she passed away two months before my first was to be born. I know she is with Jesus, but I miss so much still. She used to be really crafty: crochetting; making pretty things with lace, hot glue and already formed hearts, ovals or circles made of wood reeds; decorative towels; and little baskets and hoop-skirted dolls made from those exact shaped beads and those funny, fluffy-haired doll heads. I still have some of her creations. What a sweet reminder of her. Thank you... (sniff, sniff...)
ReplyDeleteI love your "The steroid-enhanced, ridiculously big, pre-lit Christmas tree" great lyrics and wonderful photos. what camera do you use? my bub is camera shopping for a major upgrade!
ReplyDeleteFantastic !
