Doesn't that just make you want to slurp some hot chocolate?
In your underwear?
In front of a fan?
Our weather forecasters here remind me of the Steve Martin meteorologist character in LA Story; "Monday, 75 and sunny; Tuesday, 76 and sunny; Wednesday, 78 and mostly sunny..."
Which made the sudden temperature drop and precipitation events of Tuesday night all the more unexpected...

BAM!
For the uninformed, that's a Southern snow storm. That's what is looks like when you run somewhere in the 20 to 40 degree latitude position.
A trampoline makes for a great polar snow feature...
Come on, folks, you gotta work with me here. This is as close to blizzard as these kids have seen in a half a decade...
Now y'all can't tell my grandmother about this next shot, okay? Promise? She would be horribly scandalized by my kid's outerwear...

I'm tellin' ya Grandma, Nyaanyaa. Tell ya, if it snowed here I'd go out in whatever I was wearing too. But I wouldnt bother with the coat and my warm boots are brown and my gumboots are red, I sold the purple ones a couple of months ago:(
ReplyDeleteLOL. I am giddy with excitement for your kids. I have seen snow, real snow only once. Back in 1976. And it didn't even stick. So, I will have to live vicariously through your children and their southern blizzard. Looks like fun was had in purple boots and bathrobes.
ReplyDeleteWow, that somewhat resembles Indiana weather. Sunny and warm one day with freezing rain and snow the next. We never know what to expect. We've had only a little snow here ourselves this year. Love how she went outside in her bathrobe, I do that all the time.
ReplyDeleteI bet they were so excited!! We live much further north than you and my L starts begging for snow as soon as Halloween is over!
ReplyDeleteThat's more snow than we've gotten in Boise so far this year. Glad the kids could have some fun in a winter wonderland!
ReplyDeleteWe live in Plano (just north of Dallas) and saw flurries but it didn't stick! My kids would have been ecstatic for the same reason...when do we see such a thing!?
ReplyDeleteI love it!! I'm sure they were so excited to wake up to that!! There is nothing like snow in December to get a person into the Christmas spirit!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I call them rain days when they call school off here because of the snow.
ReplyDeleteFunny, my husband is in Baton Rouge working for the week and he called to say that it was snowing there and hadn't in 10 years.
Too funny. We don't get much snow here in Atlanta either. Makes me sad. I miss the New York snow.
ReplyDeleteWe have been battling freezing rain up here in Pennsylvania. I am ready for a southern blizzard. Got any houses for sale on your street? :)
ReplyDeleteI love your kid's outerwear, especially the purple boots.
You must not have moved too far away from Oklahoma because the same thing happened here this week...brrrrr.....We got a little less snow than you and I thought school might be called off! HA! I promise I won't tell your grandmother...☺
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! We got Texas snow yesterday but it didn't stick at our house. 30 Miles away it did, and my boys were so disappointed!
ReplyDeleteI love the robe! And I'm envious of the snow! Georgia doesn't get much, either. *Sigh*
ReplyDeleteLol! Did you see our first snowstorm yet? Hubby took this picture (http://www.photocaptiva.com/?p=434) awhile back. We have now gotten severe snowstorm warnings and our streets are compleetly white, the trees look amazing... The only downfall to the super cold weather ( -20 Celcius, with a windchill of -35 Celcius)is that it's too cold for our cameras. Sigh. We'll have to wait until it gets a tad warmer to take pictures of our lovely landscape. :)
ReplyDeleteYes...where are those hats and gloves?! It's always a scramble when we happen to get a cold day here. And of course I always put the cold weather items where I can find them...where was that?
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had much snow yet and I am in Utah. What the?! Oh well--I don't mind!! (0;
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the outerwear attire!! My kids do the same thing!!
I remember the first time my friend from AUS saw snow - your babies have that look!
ReplyDeleteNothing better than a good snow-drift and a trampoline. how fun for the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteKids wear the darndest things! And they look adorable while doing it. I am so excited you got snow!
ReplyDeleteThey are calling for 2-4 inches of snow where I live. And it is raining ice right now. Ice cubes. I'm serious. They look like ice cubes. enjoy your frost. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a huge temperature drop! You should send your kids up here. We have 2 inches of snow and more is falling from the sky. :)
ReplyDeleteaww love that winter gear LOL!
ReplyDeleteI had a roomie in college ( idaho) that was from arizona, it was so fun to see her the first snow fall that season. just like a three year old
We get tons of snow here in Virgina. I'd trade it for eighty degree weather.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought you were going to tell us you were pregnant again. Darn.
ReplyDeleteI thought you were in Wisconsin. Where the heck do you live in the south that you got snow and NC didn't?
I am SOOOOO jealous! Am experiencing some serious snow envy. (And call me crazy, I think Grandma might be so enchanted by the bliss on that face she'd forgive the "underthings!")
ReplyDeletelove your christmas miracle! (and cute pics:)
ReplyDeleteHahaha! That is cute.
ReplyDeleteBring your kids on up here and we'll go sledding! :)
WTS?? (what the snow???)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love the pics!! The robe is tooooo cute!
ReplyDeleteAt least you got snow...We just got sleet that night with no evidence the next morning...just bitter cold.
ReplyDeleteThe last picture is just adorable!!!!! Snow we had some it rain and it's gone here!!!! but not probably not for long!!!! winter here seams never ending LOL
ReplyDeleteI can relate i am running my airconditioning in DEC!!! I will be glad when the temps are back to normal...and i would adore some snow!!
ReplyDelete81 to freezing is pretty drastic. It made new here!
ReplyDeleteThe weather has just been so crazy lately we were 75 yesterday and tomorrow we are going to be 47.I love your daughters winter gear.lol Week 2 of my new meme is Friday if you want to stop by and check it out.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where you're located, but it was exactly 81 degrees here on Tuesday also. I'm in Austin, and since you additionally used the "y'all" term, I'm thinkin' you can't be too far away. =)
ReplyDeleteWe had some sleet stuck to our rooftops and playscape, but no snow stuck to the ground. The kids had lots of fun chiseling away at the somewhat icey glaze! (Don't feel too sorry for them, they've seen and played in plenty of snow on vacations!) As for me...I've had my fill growing up in Minnesota!
Precious. Just precious. Loving the photos.
ReplyDeleteThat must be VERY fun for you and your family! (Esp. around Christmas time.)
ReplyDeleteI love the outerwear hat and boots combo. Looks like the fashion statement I make at school drop off most mornings.
ReplyDeleteWhat crazy weather! Must be global warming:) Looks like the kids enjoyed the snow and I love their snow clothes..so cute.
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny. I am in TX right now visitng a friend and the weather is beautiful! lol. Of course, I am came from 25 degrees, snow and ice and big heavy winter coat. :) It's nice to see some sunshine again ...
ReplyDeleteBLESSINGS!
