Gross Gourd

IMG_0928

We've made a little discovery about 6 of 8.

That whole pumpkin carving thing?

For 6 of 8?

Um, not so much....

Now the rest of the kiddos would find reason to carve a pumpkin a month...a Santa pumpkin, a Happy 2009 pumpkin, a Valentine heart pumpkin...

But 6 of 8?...

I don't think there's even a caption worthy of the above expression.

Why, look!!!  It's a rare sighting of a ruminant, reticulated gourd-kicker!  Wow!  That's two sightings in a very short period of time!

  8. That's funny. I expected the same reaction from Libby, since this is her first experience with actually carving a pumpking (we just put some little add-ons to our pumpking last year). I was suprised at how she just dug right in. Up to her elbows in pumpkin!

  11. Enjoy your PB cups, I am going to eat Halloween candy and blog after my little man passes out from his sugar high... Love the expression on 6 of 8's face... Priceless! Mason wanted nothing to do with the yucky innards of the pumplin, he only wanted the finished product...

  12. Carving outside! What a great idea! But then that would have reqired a little more foresight than carving at 7 pm on Halloween eve :) Happy Halloween.

  15. 6 of 8...I am with YOU! I feel your pain - Oh sorry wrong President...6 of 8: Be a maverick. Go for it. Jump in guns a blazin'....Or if some of you prefer...6 of 8: It's time for a change, try something new. It will make you a better person for it....

Really---I am with this one---NOT gonna do it, NOT gonna do it.

And now back to our regularly scheduled life.

  23. Can I just say what an amazingly beautiful family you have?!?! Every time I look at your pictures I am always reminded of God's goodness...and the joy in family life...not in a cheesy Hallmark way...but in a for real and honest way...

And I'm totally with miss #6. Pumpkin carving grosses me out. I know when the boys get older they will geek out about it...but for now we paint! :)

Hope you're feeling better my friend..

    Blessings!

We have plenty of Reeses PB cups! Every time I went to a door with G last night, John said "Get a reeses pb cup!"

  28. CUTE Pumpkins- and even CUTER kids!! I never carved our pumpkins this year :( I guess it will get easier for me to remember to do those things when the kids are actually old enough to help!!

  29. OMG that is so funny. My youngest will not even touch the pumpkin till all the gooey insides are cleaned out.

  30. I just finished sorting the chocolate from everything else. That's right. I'm stashing it and I won't tell where it is, even if you tickle me! Sweet pictures! I love the giraffe, too!

  31. I have to agree with her. It's gross and so much work! LOL! Great pics, and I love the little pumpkin kicker and car-driving unicorn.

  32. Do you toast up all of those seeds when you are done? I have only done it once after the gazillion seeds from the 19 thousand pumpkins my kids carved. They were very yummy (but what a mess!)
I'm with 6! Don't like the gooey mess!

  33. Lol! the kids seems to have had a good time. We did the pumpkin carving thing for the first time this year. I ended up toasting the seeds with nutmeg, cinnamon and a bit of sugar, it was delicious!
