The Carpet in the Van Goes Crunch, Crunch, Crunch....

We had one of those weekends...the kind where your vehicle turns into your kitchen, laundry hamper, sports center, media room, dining area, storage bin, garbage dump limo.  That kind of weekend.

We started with multiple soccer games, dance workshops and errands and then upped the ante by zipping over to the coast to check on the house we have on the market and to hit the beach.  The interior of the van...well, let's just say it's seen better days.

But you know what?  Isn't there some enlightened quote about finding beauty in the everyday, common things, in the flotsam and jetsam of life? (Well, maybe not the 'flotsam and jetsam' part...I just happen to like the way those words sound....remember Ursala's eels in Little Mermaid?)  Anyhow, here is my photographic ode to finding beauty where you may, including in the sandy, dirty, ketchup-stained interior of your 15 passenger van.

I offer you the following:

~Yoda Amongst the Tater Tots~

~Abandoned Cleats and ShinGuards: A Still Life~

and to create symmetry and closure to the Crunchy Van Collection, I offer you  ~Yoda Forgotten~

Now go forth, Dear Readers, enlightened and challenged to find beauty amidst debris.  And shovel out your vehicle.  And clean the ketchup off the window. Pin It

  1. Oh can I relate!! We live about 30 minutes from "town" so our "going to town days" have similar end results.....I love your title....I may have to add that as the last verse to the wheels on the bus song....very appropriate lol!

  2. I swear I just saw pictures of my van. I actually did clean mine out yesterday(only because I had people riding with me to my Grandma's funeral). Only the chocolate icecream Did Not scrub off the carpet and the stickers are still on the back window. I just have to say "Thank You" to the person that invented the tinted window :)

  4. Oh yes, I recently cleaned my van because of the disgusting milk smell... hmmm I'll leave it at that. Thanks for the chuckle!

  5. Oh my--this makes me laugh. As I stick out my tongue to all those that still have clean, normal smelling vehicles! What makes our worse...it my 5 year old has a VERY sensitive nose...and frequently -- starts gagging and begging not to have to enter due to some random smell--usually a forgotten sippy cup! But this week we finally figured out it was just a bag of dog food that was never brought inside after the grocery trip--apparently that doesn't smell well locked in a car with these kinda of temps! :)

  7. Lol! I think this is my minivan too. I try to grab any stray food in the vehicle, simply because I ahte bugs or anything attracting to bugs...But the sand and collection of "stuff" amongst the seats in the minivan, I can relate easily!

Oh Octamom, you ask us to find beauty in this stuff, and now I need to whip out our camera and get pictures too! :)

Like my c-section scar is a beautiful sign of my little guy, well my messy car is a beautiful sign that we at least go places and this is how we get to thos places and it just gets a bit messy along the way!!!! Hah!

  11. do you have any wisdom to share on keeping an extremely free spirited little girl in bed? she's disobedient a lot of the day and isn't phased much by any type of discipline...3 years.

  13. If that wasn't a van, I would have to say you sneaked into the parking lot at work today and took pictures of my car.

  14. Does this mean I should wipe up that milk that I knew split the other day? ")

  15. Oh boy.....take that comment back. I don't know where I was or what I was thinking, but I'm downright embarassed. That I "knew split" the other day? I think I need a nap. :)

  16. Mama,

I found a treasure-load when I logged back into your world tonite! Your depth of honesty; your sweet, sweet, mama math...

I covet your Yoda. We so wanted C3PO, but the McD's people don't love my boy the way I do...

Thanks for your camera info...here's to keeping my fingers crossed!

    God Bless.

  17. Yoda looks great with a backdrop of 'tots.
I have no minivan, but I did spill a potted basil plant all over the passenger-side's floor of my car.
And I have a red TREO!

  18. Holy cow...I totally relate to this post. My car is always a disaster because of the girls and their snacks and toys. Yoda really added a little something to this post thought:)

  19. I can always count on you to give me my laugh for the day. Caught this post this morning and I am truly going to have a blessed day! Love the view of debris as art and smile as I picture each child with their "stuff" in the back seat. Thanks!

  20. You are so much better than I. When I loaded our tribe into the van o' 12 passengers, and saw all the mess, I just got ticked off!

  23. I only have four, and my van is much worse! ;)
My honey had to take the seats out to get a new bunk bed for our boys. Was he in for a shock! :P
